Talladega Superspeedway

Episode 3 of the podcast finds host Chris Carden in Talladega County, Alabama, where he catches up with Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore and Chief Deputy Josh Tubbs

Serving in the county seat that is home to the Talladega Superspeedway, Sheriff Kilgore and Chief Deputy Tubbs talk about how the track has impacted the Sheriff’s Department over the years and the challenges that come with managing an area that large.

Kilgore and Tubbs also recount some interesting and entertaining encounters they’ve experience first-hand during race weekends as well.

Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore began his law enforcement career in 1979 as a patrol officer for the Talladega Police Department. He rose through the ranks in the Sheriff’s Office serving as an Investigator, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Chief Investigator and in 2000 Sheriff Studdard appointed him as the Chief Deputy. Kilgore served in the capacity of Chief Deputy for 13 years until Sheriff Studdard retired in 2013, and Governor Robert Bentley appointed him as Sheriff on March 13th, 2013
